We want to thank all the teachers and students who participated in the study and we hope that learning more about their fitness levels has helped them  continue to live more healthy, physically active lives!

Summary of Study Results

The original goal for the PhysicalGenesis study was to assess the Health Behaviors and Physical Fitness levels of students attending Seventh-day Adventist schools across the United States, and to examine any potential relationships between those health behaviors (such as amount of sleep, nutritional habits, physical activity levels, etc.) and physical fitness levels.

During the first two years,
we attempted to conduct a two-part effort to determine students’: 1. Health Behaviors, through an online survey; and 2. Physical Fitness levels, through fitness testing by the local teachers.

Although we promoted the survey and the fitness testing, and provided resources for both, we were not as successful as we had originally hoped in gaining widespread participation.

At the end of year two,
with reduced participation levels, the NAD decided to discontinue the Health Behavior Survey as a part of PhysicalGenesis and focus solely on Physical Fitness testing.

Below, you'll find a brief summary of the results from the 4-year study.

This THIRD STUDY in the “Mind Body Spirit Triad” of research focusing on students in the North American Division of the Adventist Education system investigates fitness levels of children and adolescents from 2015-2018.
